The barber near me search is the whole game
Most owners think they are competing on the work. For a stranger with a phone, you are competing on what shows up before the work is ever seen.
Here are the five things that decide who gets the call — in order of how much they cost you.
- They never saw your work
A guy new to the area types barber near me, looks at three results, and picks one. Your cuts never entered the decision. The phone picks for him.
- Recent beats perfect
A shop with eleven reviews from this month looks open and busy. A shop with forty reviews, newest one from 2024, looks closed. Same quality, different signal.
- Your best customers never leave a review
Not because they are unhappy. Because nobody asked them while they were still in the chair looking at a fresh fade. The ask has to be automatic, not a thing you remember.
- Nobody answers the reviews
A one-star with no reply reads as true. A one-star with a calm owner reply underneath reads as one bad day. Same review, opposite effect on the next guy reading it.
- The photos are three years old
An outdated profile with a dark storefront photo makes a new customer wonder if you are even open on Sundays.
What I actually do about it
I get the Google Business Profile right — hours, services, service area, photos, the things that answer a stranger's questions before they call. I make the review ask automatic, so it happens at the moment the customer is happiest instead of whenever somebody remembers. I answer every review in your voice, calmly, including the bad ones. And I track where you show up for the searches that matter in your towns, so you can see it move.
What I will never do: write or script a customer's review, buy reviews, swap reviews, or promise you a position on Google. Nobody can promise that, and anybody who does is lying to you.
The offer
Month to month. No annual contract. If you do not see your standing improve in the first 30 days, you get every dollar back and we part as friends.
The barbershop down the street is not better than you. They are easier to find.
